Trailblazer in enzymology and applied microbiology whose career bridges groundbreaking science and real-world impact.

Earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry and applied microbiology at Kyoto University, and completing postdoctoral research in the U.S.

His groundbreaking research includes discovering nitrile hydratase for acrylamide production, phenylalanine dehydrogenase for newborn screening, and acid phosphatase for food additives. He also contributed to enzyme development in the aldoxime–nitrile pathway.

Post-retirement, he continues scientific and consulting work through his sole proprietorship, AEnzam.

Has led multiple CSIR, DST, and industry-sponsored projects, authored 30 international publications, and holds 10 patent applications (3 granted). His research focuses on enzyme-based synthesis, microbial transformations, and scale-up processes. He also serves as an Assistant Professor at AcSIR, mentoring Ph.D. scholars and postgraduates.
